Feng Shui and the Year of the Ox.  Kathleen Horvath, CFSC

Have you felt that these last 14 months have been a bit challenging?  According to Chinese Astrology, there is a perfectly logical reason for that.  Let’s go back a few years to recap and bring ourselves up to current time.  In 2006 we had a Fire Pig year, this was the year of the party animal and it did seem like the good times were rolling.  Do you want to borrow an insane amount of money, sure—sign here.  Do you want to buy, buy, buy, sure— pull out the plastic.  We never thought it would end.    In 2007 we had the Fire Dog, and the Alfa Dog certainly showed up. This is the time we started feeling a bite in the behind of our past actions.   This was also considered the end of a 180- year cycle.

What we are experiencing now is the dawn of a new era.  Last year we had the energy of the Earth Rat, the combination of the earth and water (Rat) gave us a very muddy year.  Didn’t it seem as though everything was collapsing and we had no clear direction?  Since this was the beginning of a new cycle, I compare this to a very difficult childbirth.  We are now in the year of Earth Ox, and it seems like we may get a colicky baby.  Don’t be surprised if things seem to have a sluggish start.  In the body, this could manifest as stomach related issues and highly contagious diseases.  This double earth energy is also indicative of active earth energies like earthquakes and landslides.

Do take heart; this is also a time where great accomplishments will happen.  The key, no matter what your yearly animal sign, is to try to act like the energy of the year which is an ox.  When looking at these archetypes always think of how these animals from the zodiac act in their natural world.  The ox is very powerful, hardworking, nose to the grindstone, methodical and never in a rush.  Back to the basics if you will.  Those who will fair the best are the ones who carry these attributes, those who don’t can probably count on health related issues to counter its lack of respect to the ox.

Here is a Year of the Ox factoid.  Did you know that President Obama is an Ox, and that his idol President Lincoln was as well?  Interesting that we have someone who is willing to work hard, go back to basics to get things working right again.  Although we all know it is not going to be easy for President Obama, he has the perfect attributes to turn things around; this is a man who is not afraid of hard work.

Chinese Astrology or destiny code taps into 1/3 of the possibilities, taking this to the next level is to incorporate Feng Shui.  In the Feng Shui world, we consider Chinese Astrology the diagnosis and Feng Shui as the prescription.  The system of Feng Shui and Chinese Astrology has been used for over 3000 years and obviously not a new age trend.  Going on the premise that you are a reflection of your space, empowering yourself by using your space is actually one of the easiest ways to remove obstacles.

Using Classical Feng Shui we can tap into the challenging earth energies of the year to mitigate its ill affects.  What you will need is a compass and a floor plan to get started.  I will be teaching you how to put together the yearly cures to combat the stubborn Earth Ox, as well as how to tap into the wealth area of this year.  These cures are good for one year when the energy changes again.
